Funding
The PICP is currently funded and supported by the New Zealand Aid Programme, the New Zealand Police, and the Australian Federal Police.
New Zealand Aid Programme
Funding from the New Zealand Aid Programme, administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, currently covers:
- Secretariat administration costs
- the Secretariat Officer, Executive Support Officer, and Business Planning & Monitoring Officer positions
- a Project Officer seconded from a Pacific Island country
- the annual Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police conference, including a contribution to the Chiefs’ Travel Fund
- the majority of PICP-led projects
- travel costs for the Secretariat’s representation of the Chiefs at regional and international organisations and meetings.
New Zealand Police
The New Zealand Police hosts the PICP Secretariat at Police National Headquarters, and also provides funds the Executive Director position.
Australian Federal Police (AFP)
Funding from the AFP currently covers:
- the Project Manager / AFP liaison officer position
- a Project Officer from a Pacific Island country each year
- a contribution to the Chiefs’ Travel Fund for the annual PICP conference
- ad hoc funding for PICP projects.
