Vision
Safe and secure communities for all Pacific Island countries.
Mission
To continuously improve policing through vigorous and effective representation of the interests of PICP members both regionally and globally. Further, we will collaborate with governments and non-government organisations, including our partners in law enforcement.
Strategy
The PICP’s strategy is based on three core strands:
Ethics & Integrity
- To continue to develop police ethical standards throughout our membercountries with commitment to:Human Rights principles
- Championing and integrating ethical behaviours in all police activities
Regional Capacity Development:
- Provide guidance and support for any future governance arrangements for capacity development for Pacific policing
- Harmonise regional training
- Recruit, support and advise donors on capacity development programs
- Support the Women’s Advisory Network (WAN)
Regional Cooperation
- Cooperate with and represent our members to our regional and international partners
Our full strategy is set out in the PICP Strategic Direction 2009 – 2014. This was based on the Future Directions in Pacific Policing document (Volume 1: Beyond 2010 and Volume 2: Ethics & Integrity Manual), which was the result of a comprehensive review of policing in the Pacific, undertaken on behalf of the PICP in 2008.
