Vision
Greater participation of women in Police leadership, management and delivery of policing services in the Pacific.
Mission
Supporting and enhancing the contributions of Women in Policing within the Pacific Region
Strategy
Our strategy is based on three strands:
Improved ethics and integrity
- Promote gender equity in Pacific police services
- Support and improve professional standards to prevent discrimination and harassment towards women in policing
- Support policies that encourage the recruitment and retention of women in policing
- Support the development of Equal Employment Opportunities within Pacific police services
- Promote the introduction and development of policies on maternity and pregnancy leave and conditions
Greater levels of regional cooperation between women in policing
- Provide avenues for improved communication and collaboration
- Conduct annual WAN Conferences
- Conduct a baseline survey of selected WAN member countries in relation to participation and working conditions for women in policing
An expanded and strengthened women’s network throughout Pacific policing
- Establish a WAN Group in all participating jurisdictions
- Continue the WAN Exchange Programme between women in different police services
